The lake holds a mix of carp and catfish with a few little extras. There are estimated to be in the region of 90 carp running at an average weight of approx 27lb and topping out at 43lb+. The netting in November 2023 was geared to reducing the number of carp below 15lb, these being sent to our sister lake at Craon. Catfish at Firs Lake are known to 90lb plus with some feisty 60 and 70lb specimens also residing in the lake. The netting also served to reduce the number of smaller catfish.
The extras in the lake include ‘Crackles’, the 34lb+ koi carp and ‘Geezer’ the stunning diamond-back sturgeon. There are additionally a smaller number of zander, pike and perch and a much reduced number of roach.
